A letter from our owner

When Matt Rosenthal opened Bozeman Family Fly Shop in 2016, he had the vision for a community gathering space with chairs, tables and vises where people of all ages could get together, tie, share stories and learn. This throwback to a slower, easier time became a reality at Bozeman Family Fly Shop and it is that vision that guides us today.

We took over the shop in 2021 with the goal of maintaining its character and intent to serve Bozeman’s fly fishing and fly tying communities as the go-to supply shop and gathering space. At a time when so much was changing in the Bozeman area, we were determined to keep the vibe that made Bozeman Family Fly Shop and the Bozeman community special. While maintaining this character and vision, we wanted to enhance our services by carrying an even greater selection of fly tying materials and offering more opportunities for people to gather together. Our new name, Bozeman Fly Supply, honors our roots while acknowledging how we’ve grown.

While our name has changed, the shop and the community here hasn't. We are still dedicated to creating a space where people can share their passion for fly fishing or fly tying with like-minded folks. Our hope is that you will walk inside our doors and feel like you are stepping back to a time and place when people gathered at the café in the morning to talk about the day and share a cup of coffee. Our fly table is that space now, and we invite you to pull up a seat, whether it’s your first time tying or your 500th.
